Anzac Day is a time to reflect on the servicemen and servicewomen, past and present, who have displayed courage and self-sacrifice serving the country. Here is a list of the things you can do to honour Anzac Day in Auckland:

Tuesday 21 April – Saturday 25 April, Vector Lights on Auckland Harbour Bridge will shine to commemorate Anzac Day with a stunning light and sound show. Visit for the accompanying audio track. 

Plus, from 3am-7am the bridge will be a static red colour for the dawn service.

Auckland War Memorial Museum

Visit the Pou Kanohi New Zealand at War exhibition. Rich with collections, the gallery shares New Zealanders’ experiences of WWI from multiple perspectives, and presents the key events of the war through an illustrated multimedia timeline, enhanced with objects and immersive interactive experiences.


Pou Maumahara is a dedicated space to remember our service people and discover their individual stories. It is a research space where visitors can contribute personal knowledge and information onsite to create a legacy for future generations.

And of course, the top floor of the museum is known as the Hall of Memories, dedicated to those who lost their lives in World War One and World War Two.


New Zealand Warbirds Visitor Centre

The New Zealand Warbirds Visitor Centre at Ardmore Airport has an impressive collection of restored classic planes once used in service and now fully operational once again. The collection includes the Mustang, Beaver, Chipmunk, Harvard, CT4 and A4 Skyhawk.

Maungauike North Head

Maungauika/North Head Historic Walk

Head to Devonport to walk the series of loop tracks that tell the unique military history of Maungauika/North Head, featuring tunnels, guns, searchlights and defences that were placed on the headland to protect Auckland.
